February Lunch & Learn: From L&D Professional to Internal Consultant

(AKA, When They Want a Training Program that You Know Will Fail!)

For L&D professionals to be seen as true business partners in their organizations, they must shift from a purely educational perspective to a business perspective. They must move from an individual who facilitates learning opportunities to a partner who serves as an organization’s internal consultant. While L&D professionals focus on increasing capability by learning, internal consultants focus on business outcomes. While L&D professionals often ask, “What do employees need to learn to perform better?”, internal consultants ask, “What is causing this problem and what combination of solutions will fix it?

As a result of this highly interactive session, you will be able to:

1.     Understand the difference between an L&D orientation and an internal                   consultant orientation.
2.     Apply a straightforward, 4-step internal consulting process.
3.     Apply a very simple performance analysis tool that will help you identify
the specific cause of a performance problem and determine the most
         effective solution.

4.     Effectively handle training requests that you think will be unsuccessful.

Attendees will receive 1 CEU toward APTD and CPTD certification/recertification.
